The pictures at the top of the page are some of the best volunteers any organization could hope for.
They are from left to right Anne Davies. She is our Organizer of Paperwork (You have no idea how valuable she is to someone like me.), Creative Consultant, and a very upbeat morale officer for all who come in contact with her. Anne also has a degree in social work and brings a lot of experience from her work on the east coast. Anne will try anything once and has a real connection with our kids.
Next is Sue Pomranka. Sue is a retired special education teacher. She was my son Kerry's teacher for a few years. As far as I am concerned she walks on water. She is calm and easy going no matter what is happening and gives terrific feedback on how she sees participants reacting to the program and what their concerns might be. Sue is also the editor in chief and primary consultant regarding how some of our kids might interpret some of the written material presented.
Then there is Carl Pomranka. Carl is our head cameraman, husband to Sue and a source of great wit. He is retired from the military and then retired as a high school history teacher. His many hats give him great perspective and an unflappable sense of offbeat humor that keeps everything in perspective (When you're not getting the urge to smack him). Also, being the only guy in the crowd he is invaluable for the heavy lifting and we love him.
Last but not least is Heather Jackson. She participated in our first pilot program and has been one of our most enthusiastic supporters. She is tireless and undauntable and can maintain a sense of humor in almost any situation. When we lost our training room one week before classes were to start she just said not to worry. Within twenty-four hours she found us another site. The smile you see in that picture is almost always on her face.
